Mr Jack Saxon

It is my absolute pleasure to welcome our past, present and prospective students and whānau to the Mount Hutt College website.

If you are looking for a school that makes the most of one of the best backyards in the country, a school that is focussed on developing the whole individual- Mind, Body and Spirit, a school that is an extension of an amazing wider community, you’ve come to the right place- It’s all here!

With Mount Hutt, the Rakaia River and plenty of high country lakes and tramps on our doorstep our school prides itself on connecting learning opportunities to our wider environment. A top notch Outdoor Education programme is complemented by a diverse range of extracurricular opportunities.

These opportunities act to further enrich a mainstream curriculum that sees our learners match or better their peers both regionally and nationally.

Ultimately, we all want to choose a school for our children where we know they will be safe and flourish as individuals. With just 550 learners we have a strong family feel and students who have a firm sense of belonging. With solid mentoring and peer support programmes our learners look out for each other, are inclusive and work collaboratively to support school programmes.

If you want to build a picture of how special our school is, I would encourage you to visit the alumni section of our website and look at our alumni profiles. With past and current All Blacks, World Ironman Champions, Internationally renowned Scientists, Engineers, Lawyers, Artists, Performers, Farmers and Business owners, our school produces talented people that are successful across the full spectrum of life.

I would encourage whānau to come in and visit us, take a tour, and get a feel for the unique culture we have at Mount Hutt College and the amazing wider community we live in.

We look forward to seeing you soon.
