Food & Textiles

Ākonga in Year 7 Food and Textiles Technology work through the design process to design, plan and construct outcomes in both contexts. In Food Technology, ākonga focus on using various kitchen appliances safely and effectively. They choose and survey stakeholders in order to create meals that meet the needs and preferences of their end users.

In Textiles Technology, ākonga develop their basic sewing machine skills by creating an imaginative and original design to incorporate into their textiles project. Organisation, problem-solving and communication are essential skills developed across Technology learning.

Digital Technology

Computational thinking enables a student to express problems, and formulate solutions in a way that means a computer (an information processing agent) can be used to solve them.

Ākonga understand that digital applications and systems are created for humans by humans.

They develop increasingly sophisticated understandings and skills related to designing and producing quality, fit-for-purpose, digital outcomes.
