Mrs Carolyn Fordyce (FD)

Deputy Principal (ext 702)

Tēnā koutou kātoa,

Ko Maungatautari  te maunga, ko Rangitikei te awa, ko Ngāti Raukawa te marae, ko Fordyce tōku ingoa whānau, ko Carolyn tōku ingoa.

I have always loved reading and being transported into the lives of others, both fictional and real.  Being an English teacher is a dream occupation because I can share my love of texts with young people.  Their curiosity, growth, energy, delight and struggles are a privilege to be a part of.

I began teaching at Wesley College in South Auckland where I was raised.  I also taught at New Plymouth Girls’ High School and Ruawai College before moving to Methven as the Head of the English Faculty.  Stepping into the role of Deputy Principal, I welcome the opportunity to share in the big picture thinking and planning, to have an impact on the learning experiences of all ākonga.

To be a teacher is to motivate and engage young people so that they can move forward in their lives with confidence, equipped with the skills to think critically and communicate effectively.  The Methven community can depend upon Mount Hutt College to consistently strive to provide an environment that supports our young people to reach their full potential.
