Student leadership, agency and ownership are written into our DNA at Mount Hutt College. With support from the Head Students, our Prefects and the committees they lead develop and deliver a range of opportunities for our learners to connect to the full range of school dimensions- Mind, Body and Spirit.
Leadership opportunities are not just the domain of senior students at Mount Hutt College with Junior House Captains and the Year 7-8 Manaaki leaders forming a Junior Council that contributes widely to school life and direction. Our juniors also benefit from additional leadership opportunities, such as the Spirit of Adventure experience, to support them to grow personally and as school leaders.
Our student leaders play a significant role in setting the future direction for our school. Whether it is the significant role they play in community consultation, focus groups or the annual student property projects, our vision for student leadership is to actualise their voice and ensure that our college reflects their aspirations and needs.
