Learning Areas

ESOL helps migrant and international ākonga increase their fluency in English across the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing to the level that they are able to operate independently and achieve in mainstream classes.

Ākonga are helped to improve their English skills as they progress through the stages described in the English Language Learning Progressions (ELLP). Year 7 and 8 ākonga attend ESOL classes 2 or 3 times a week during CCM class.
