Chair

I feel I'm as local as it gets. Raised on a farm at Highbank which My Grandparents, then parents farmed. Educated at Methven Primary and Methven High School, Now Mount Hutt College.

I farmed initially and then went into the Agriculture Machinery Industry where I qualified as a Automotive Engineer Heavy Equipment (Diesel Mechanic) This progressed to Leadership because of a natural drive to see improvement implemented.

23 years later after being in sales, customer service and product specialist/support roles, I became a self employed Civil Earthmover. Rachelle (wife) and I have three children, all educated at MPS and MHC.

Rachelle also had business in town opening a Cafe and now, a Clothing outlet. I joined the MPS board (6 yrs) and learned about Governance vs Management. Being one to get stuck in rather than a critic on the sideline, I then joined MHC and by Default became Board Chair. (Presiding Member) This was a temporary role, But three years later I'm still in the seat.

I Have always had a strong practical approach and so Property is a key role and assists in discipline. I'm proud to work with our current board members as the diverse skill set is strong. I'm extremely proud of the Staff at MHC For the passion and drive they have to be Educators.

The daily challenges are beyond the scope of Many people. Outside of BOT duties I love Music and performing Arts. Play piano and Guitar, and am a member of Methven Theatre Company. I'm a Volunteer at Methven Fire Brigade and at Half a century have just Qualified as their newest Firefighter. A duty I'm proud to do in such an amazing rural Community. When I stop and smell the roses in life, I realise, we live in a beautiful location set under the Southern Alps where the Braided River Flows. You can travel the World but to me, this Is Home.
