Purpose
Peer Supporters are senior students who have been trained to act as leaders in support of junior students. We aim to understand your problem and support you to find ways to manage your struggle safely.
Who are we?
Our team is made up of students who want to support students’ wellbeing at Mount Hutt College. We have undergone peer support training to equip us with skills to listen, empathise and act in ways that will help you to navigate your issues. Feel welcome to say hi to us if you want to chat or need some advice on where to get further help from. You will recognise us by our red school bucket hats and peer support badges. Our meet.ings are every Monday at first lunch in A Block.
What do we do?
We are here to encourage you to take ownership of your wellbeing and to support you in linking in with school wellbeing services. This might mean someone to talk to or to link you up with some help like a cool website or a professional you can trust. Sometimes it helps to just have someone listen while you work your own way through a problem.
Confidentiality
We keep all the information you share with us confidential. This means we will not repeat your personal information to anyone. Each team member is connected with our school peer support teachers who we can turn to if we are concerned about your safety. We will let you know if this happens and more about how it works.
