Jenny Thompson
Born and bred in Methven, attending both Methven Primary School and Methven High School (as it was known then) I feel a great connection with this fabulous part of New Zealand. During my time as a student in Methven, I worked doing the milk run, Saturdays at SuperValue and at Doms when it used to be Uncle Doms.
The community connection here remains strong despite the years that have passed.
After my schooling, I completed a Bachelor of Japanese language at Christchurch Polytech, then began travelling and working around the world.
My husband Ben and I returned to Methven 7 years ago, purchasing the family business - KT’s Contracting Ltd. Our return was due to the fact that Methven is about the best place in the world to raise a family.
Our children have attended Methven Primary and are now students of Mt Hutt College.
I took on the role of Secretary for the Board of Trustees at MHC 4 years ago. Originally I wanted to participate in the future of my children’s schooling but over time I have become very passionate about the education system in NZ in general.
During my time as Secretary, we have had a couple of elections with various people joining and moving on from the BOT. Each brings a unique skill set but all bring the same volunteering, caring attitude, wanting the very best for our school, staff, students, families and community.
I am very proud to be a part of it all.
