Melenaite Tu'amoheloa
Malo’e’lelei katoa. My name is Melenaite Tuamoheloa, and I an honoured to be leading our kura alongside a remarkable team of head students for 2024. My roots are firmly planted in Mau’fanga and Kolomotu’a in Tonga, equal with my four siblings. I carry with me powerful values from my culture and heritage, passed down from my loving parents to us ‘o e fānau’.
Being given this role is something I know had to be earned, and I’m ready to take on challenges as a team, and to build onto the foundation we already have as a kura. This year, I am overseeing our school’s Wairua (spiritual) domain which covers our Social, Wellbeing, and Cultural committees. I’m passionate about nurturing each committee to reach their full potential and flourish with their diverse events and activities throughout the school year.
With the various opportunities that Mount Hutt College has to offer, I’m committed to inspiring our students to seize every opportunity presented to them throughout the year. This is advice that I have strongly lived by throughout my whole journey at MHC and still currently apply to my school life. This advice has guided me throughout my journey at MHC, and continues to shape how I approach my school year.
Grateful is an understatement when it comes to me getting to help and support the growth of our ākonga in our kura. I can’t wait to reflect on the school year, celebrate our achievements as a whānau, and witness the progress made by our school and community.
