Mrs Jessica McConnell (MO)
Tēnā koutou kātoa,
Ko Ōpuke te maunga, ko Rakaia te awa, nō Balclutha ahau. Ko McConnell tōku ingoa whānau, ko Jessica tōku ingoa, kei Methven tōku kainga ināinei.
I am a primary-trained teacher and throughout my time here I have taught in many subjects in the junior years, which is my specialty area. I have also been in various roles including a year level dean, specialist classroom teacher and involved in the PRIDE team implementing PB4L practices in our kura. I also have experience working in an ECE centre.
I arrived at Mt Hutt College fresh out of university in 2010 and am proud to say I am still (technically) in my first job. I have a young family and enjoy the family-oriented community which has everything I could want for them to be surrounded by throughout their childhoods.
I am passionate about the array of opportunities we are able to give our ākonga and am proud of the way our ākonga, kura, and community regularly ‘punch above their weight.’
Being a member of the leadership team, I am enjoying looking at what’s best for our kura and ākonga from a strategic point of view, in our unique place in the world.
