The Background
Our focus on strengthening Trades and Agriculture provision for learners at Mount Hutt College had its genesis with a major community consultation carried out in 2021. This consultation which had more than a thousand respondents, and saw us host two major community meetings, established a clear direction for us moving forward.
Our goal as educators is to deliver an inspiring and fit for purpose curriculum that engages and motivates students, preparing them for their lives ahead while instilling the skills and attributes required to become successful employees and people.
We live in one of the largest food producing regions in New Zealand. Our community vision was to leverage this to its full extent, and develop a national leading innovative and future focused approach to Trades and Agriculture. Ensuring that it meets the needs of our community and local industries and actively seeks to partner with our community at every phase of development and delivery.
We want to ensure we are encouraging our young people to see the vast opportunities, find their passions and discover what they could offer, now and in the future.
