FMG Junior Young Farmer of the Year
On Saturday 17th February five members of the Mount Hutt College Teen Ag committee went down to Kurow to compete at the FMG Junior Young Farmer of the Year Aorangi Regional Finals.
The three teams competed in the last heat of the morning in seven modules ranging from fencing skills to flood management and animal digestive system identification. James Sauer and Rylan McSweeney finished in the middle of the field that competed from around the region, a great performance for their first-ever attempt.
Charles Clark and his teammate, and Jack Foster and James Clark made it through to the Top Five competing in the Quiz Head-to-Head. Congratulations go to Jack and James who took out the top spot for the third year in a row. This means they are off to their last National FMG Junior Young Farmer of the Year Finals in Hamilton in the July holidays, hoping to beat their second place from last year.
Big shout-out to the parents who drove the boys down to Kurow on the day and for their support.
