Coast to Coast 2024

C2C

The MHC students and staff had a great weekend of racing in the 2024 Kathmandu Coast to Coast. It was an incredibly successful weekend for many members of our community as Methven continues to 'punch above its weight' in the multisport world championships.

Noah & Niko teamed up with Alana Rankin-Berry from Timaru Girls High School and placed 7th in the mixed schools category in a time of 15hrs 6 minutes. This was a great achievement with all students and whanau being a part of the race for the very first time. A big congratulations to them for the progress they have made during the lead up to the event.

Sarah Reeve had a fantastic race with her team (including Dave Reeve (dad) and Martin Armour) - all of whom were support crew for last years MHC student teams. The team placed second in the open mixed category in a time of 13hrs 36 minutes which caps off a memorable year of training.

The staff team of Mr Coutts, Mr Brazier & Mr Houston all performed above expectations (with great support from the mighty NW wind) and won the Open Men's category in a time of 12hrs 09 minutes. A special congratulations to Methven Veterinarian, Hannah Lund, who was the pick of the Methven Athletes, with an astonishing race time of 12hrs 51 minutes to finish 2nd in the Elite Women's category in the 1 day race.

Mount Hutt College has a proud tradition of participation of athletes, fantastic support crews and more recently, event facilitation. We thank everyone involved and look forward to seeing who the 2025 participants will be and wishing them all the best for their journey.
