Leader's Letters

Seb Booth

You’ve probably heard the phrase “don’t judge a book by its cover,” or “treat others
how you want to be treated,” or “if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say
anything at all.”

They’re familiar, maybe even overused, but at their core, they all come back to one
thing: respect.

Respect is more than just manners or being polite when someone’s watching. It’s
about how we carry ourselves when no one is. It’s in the way we speak to each
other, the way we listen, and the way we act, not just towards people, but towards
our school and our environment too.

- It means picking up your rubbish, even if it’s not yours.
- It means including the person who’s usually left out.
- It means not talking over others, even if you feel like what you’re saying is
more important.
- It means understanding that everyone’s going through something — even if
you can’t see it.
- Respect the people around you.
- Respect your teachers.
- Respect the environment.
- And most importantly, respect yourself, because the way you treat others
often reflects how you see your own value.

When we choose respect, even in small ways, we help build a place where people
feel safe, supported, and seen. And that is what matters.

Thank you
