Mount Hutt College Coast to Coast 2024

Another 243km journey from the west coast to the east coast is upon us this Friday and Saturday. Participants will travel under her own steam via running, road cycling and kayaking for the 2024 Kathmandu Coast to Coast. We wish our students, staff, community participants and event organisers all the best for this year's race. For 2024 we have students involved in 2 different teams and also 1 x staff team competing.

Yr 12 student Sarah Reeve makes her debut as a participant in this year's race after being involved in a support crew capacity over the last few years. She will be the kayaker in a mixed adult team along with MHC parents, Dave Reeve (cyclist) and Marty Armour (runner). Both parents were support crews for last year's MHC student teams and 'got the bug' to swap from support crew to racing participants. Will the trend continue for 2025??

Yr 12 students Noah Monson (kayaker) and Niko Holgate (runner) have teamed up with Alana Rankin-Berry (cyclist) from Timaru Girls High School. This is their first involvement for all students and their whanau and they are all looking forward to being on the start line and completing the journey.

The staff team involves Mr Todd Houston (kayaker), Mr Tom Brazier (runner) and Mr Jarrod Coutts (cyclist). They are hoping their old bones will get them through the course in a respectable time and look forward to seeing where they finish up in the 3 person open men's category. It has been great completing some training throughout the year and being a part of the students' journeys.

For those students who are thinking about wanting to be part of a team in the 2025 race, please contact Mr Coutts via [email protected]. The ballot closes on the 21st of February and spaces will fill up fast. All the best for race day!
