Yr11 Outdoor Education

Year 11 Outdoor Education is underway!
Whitewater Kayaking is our major focus in Term 1 and all of the students involved have made great progress. The year started off in the MHC Pool (thanks to the Pool Committee for their awesome work getting this in such great shape for the season!).
Students then progressed to the flatwater by starting out at Cleardale Farm on the irrigation pond (thanks Wright family for your ongoing support of our program!) Our flatwater progression finished at Lake Selfe including an overnight camp (with landowners permission - thanks Chris & Jo from Glenthorne Station!) followed by some river rescue at a section of the Lake Coleridge intake close to the Rakaia River.
Both trips were a great success overall and it was great to see the growth of our students both in and out of the boats, while building connections with a new part of our region. Big thanks to John Hooker, Sam Wright & Todd Houston for supporting our paddlers.
We look forward to seeing them progress onto the Rakaia River over the coming weeks!
