Parenting Space

Whānau Matters ( whanaumatters.co.nz ) have a number of short videos to support whānau with day to day family life and tricky aspects that families may encounter on the journey to adulthood. Check out a selection of what's available below and note there are other topics available. 

  1. Teenage Brain - Teaches parents to understand teenage brain development. Reasoning as to why teenagers may do SOME of the things they do.
  2. Absent Parenting - Teaches parents that even if they are going away for work or for other reasons, they can still show their children they care by doing small things like leaving notes, encouraging letters or favourite food.
  1. Mirroring - Talks about how easy it is for children and teenagers to copy words and actions they see from their parents. Shares a reminder around positive role modeling.
  2. Rugby Rules - Teaches parents about the red and green brain. Encourages parents to stop and think before they talk or act.
