Tourism Field Trip

Tourism

Mount Hutt College Level 2/3 Tourism class students headed off downtown last week for face to face learning in the field.  They are covering the key aspects around the characteristics and needs of tourists and using our local resources proved beneficial. Hearing directly from the accommodation providers; Ski Time with Peter, the Brown Pub with Jess and the Southern Cross Lodge with Daniel and Michelle, helped us to develop a key understanding around what these fabulous facilities offer and the different services that they provide the visiting tourists to Methven.

We were fortunate to be given tours of the buildings at each site and we were offered insights into the world of tourism from the key people on the ground.
Students have since used this information to develop a report and applied their learning to their assessment task.
How fortunate we are to have such wonderful resources right in our own backyard!
