On Air - Radio Workshop
The course occurred from the 8th to the 11th July and was filled with heaps of learning and hands-on experience.
The first day consisted of all things radio! They started by learning about all the different types of advertising on the radio. After grasping various techniques, they were tasked with creating their own radio advertisements—aiming to make them convincing, humorous, and memorable.
Screen Production was a two-day taster, involving the many aspects of on-screen media. Layla and Seb went through the various roles from audio control, hosting, camera operating, floor managing, and directing! They highly enjoyed this and constructed an amazing interview, which was highly commended.
The last day was journalism. Layla and Seb learned all things about news, from constructing a news article, knowing what is factual and what is not, and how the news requires lots of confirmation before reaching the public.
Overall, the workshop provided invaluable hands-on experience in all broadcasting school categories of radio, screen production, and journalism, furthering our understanding of media!
