Principal's Piece

Carolyn Fordyce - Deputy Principal

Congratulations to the many students who participated in our recent junior and senior swimming sports championships.  The colour and vibrancy of the beautifully renovated pool set the scene for excitement, competition and building connections with school culture.  For every student who swam, whether it was a place-getting result or a house point for getting wet, their reward was great.

Not only were students filling their cup with physical well-being, they were also building their connections by being part of something.  Sharing the experience of nerves, the chilly water, damp towels; being able to laugh about goggles coming off as they dived in or going crooked into the lane ropes; comparing notes about placings… are all part of the carnival.  Equally part of the day were: cheering for your mates; adding your voice to the House chant; chatting and socialising under the House gazebos; hoping that your House would be leading the points up-dates.

Whole school events are not only about competition.  Being part of something, participating, as well as giving effort and contributing are values that repay us all many times over.  We can’t all be champions, but we can be winners by getting behind our mates and supporting each other to be involved and connect with each other.
