Ōpuke Innovation Hub Building Progress

It is exciting to see the progress on the construction of our new pole shed, a key feature of the Ōpuke Innovation Hub. This space will provide incredible opportunities for our agricultural and trades students, equipping them with hands-on learning experiences that align with industry needs.
Construction is on track, with the floor slab set to be poured next week and completion expected in early Term 3. This versatile shed will include dedicated spaces for trades and agricultural activities, as well as a central covered area for student-led construction projects.
We are especially grateful for the generous grants from the Mackenzie Charitable Foundation, which supports our agricultural initiatives, and the Lion Foundation, whose funding is making it possible to include solar panels. These panels will deliver ongoing benefits by reducing energy costs and supporting our school’s commitment to sustainability.
An exciting aspect of this project involves our trades students working alongside community experts to design and build garden beds, fostering collaboration, mentorship and practical skills.
The Ōpuke Innovation Hub represents a transformative step in preparing our students to thrive. We are looking forward to launching our revised future focused agriculture curriculum for Year 11 students in 2026 along with the addition of a senior trades academy.
