Waitaha 'Positive Action for the Environment' Youth Conference
On the 2nd May 2024, the Environment Committee went to Rangi Ruru Girls' School to participate in the Waitaha 'Positive Action for the Environment' youth conference.
This positive one-day conference included keynote presentations, workshops, panels, poster competitions and more. We were able to choose what workshops most interested us and break off from the rest of the group to learn more and be involved in some other sections that we may have been more passionate about.
Recycling, Enviro Group Management and Composting were the three options that I chose and found them very beneficial for future plans we have at Mount Hutt College. In particular, recycling and composting are becoming a massive focus for us as a committee and school community at Mount Hutt College.
I think that the whole group found this a very inspiring day of learning, around like-minded people all wanting positive actions for the environment, and involvement.
I'd like to say a massive thank you on behalf of myself and the Environment Committee to Mrs Jessep for driving us up and organising this opportunity, Mr Saxon for ensuring we could attend this event, Rangi Ruru for hosting us at their school and all the Professors and guest speakers that made educational presentations.
