Concert Band Tours Around Methven
The Mount Hutt College Concert Band took their talents around Methven this past week, performing at Methven Primary School, Methven House, and Methven Pre-School as part of their “Concert Band Community Tour.” Students played a wide variety of repertoire from “Pure Imagination” from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, to “Waltz no. 2 From ‘Jazz Suite,’” to the classic Muppets tune “Mahna Mahna,” featuring the voice talents of saxophonist Charlies Morris.
In addition to giving outstanding performances, members of the Concert Band gave presentations on each of their instruments, showcasing their sounds and uses in the context of a large ensemble. Tamariki at MPS and the Pre-school thoroughly enjoyed seeing and hearing all the instruments!
The Concert Band will be performing on the evening of June 11 at the Ashburton Event Centre as part of the Ashburton Schools Music Festival, as well as at Mount Hutt College’s Arts Evening on June 26 at the MHC Hall. We hope to see you there.
