Leader's Letters

Genna Oates

Every fortnight, one of the prefects will write a short piece to share some of the things going on in the school from there perspective. It could be things that their committee is doing, student acknowledgments or just about something that they've enjoyed at school. The first one is written by Genna Oates (Prefect of the Cultural Committee).

Enjoy the snippet of insight from these Leader's Letters.

Kia ora,

2024 started with a bang with the school Powhiri, Big Buddy Little Buddy catch ups, the new branded Active MHC, fantastic Coast to Coast results and everyone getting back into school routine.

For me a highlight so far has been Active MHC and the start up of the girls cricket team. With 27 girls signed up as part of Active MHC it is looking like it will be one great year for the girls. Our first match is set to take place in a few weeks time so we got stuck into it on Wednesday. Some of us got to try on the pads and all the gear for the first time and we got to practice our batting and bowling with hardballs. We were also lucky enough to get a message from a few White Ferns which really got us excited for what's to come.

A huge shout out and thank you to Kath Clark for getting the team up and running and the enthusiasm she bring to the team. Also thank you to Greg Jopson for sponsoring us and any other sponsors we are lucky to have on board. It's looking like its going to be a great year for Girls Cricket at MHC.

Ngā mihi,

Genna Oates
