Financial Hardship
You will be aware from previous communications that the school has opted into the government donations scheme, that limits the charges that can be placed on whānau accounts for materials and certain activities. While this covers a large number of the costs, there are some things which will remain as 'user pays' or 'no pay, no play.' This includes ActiveMHC (which includes Wednesday Sport and extra curricular activities) and overnight trips and these things will be charged for.
While we need to be taking careful notice over the next year of the viability of remaining in the government donations scheme, we will be monitoring the instances of non-payment carefully.
However, we understand that circumstances can limit choices and as a school we are able to support students to participate even if finances are tricky. We have funding set aside for exactly those situations.
If you are finding the financial side of activities limiting, please reach out to the staff member in charge of the activity/trip, your child's Kaiāwhina, Dean or Senior Leadership Team member to discuss this.
