Year 12 Peer Support Leaders Shine at Year 8 Camp
This year marked the inaugural involvement of our Year 12 Peer Support Leaders at the annual Year 8 Camp at Pudding Hill Retreat — and they absolutely rose to the challenge. Our team of six leaders — Jak, Jack, Tilly, Elsie, Jade, and Sean — took charge of guiding the Year 8s through a range of social action tasks, team-building challenges, and group activities designed to strengthen trust, communication, and connection.
Working in two groups, the Peer Support Leaders demonstrated maturity, creativity, and a genuine commitment to supporting younger students as they built confidence and friendships in the early days of their transition to high school life. Their leadership was energetic, inclusive, and deeply appreciated by staff and students alike.
In true camp spirit, they also braved the chilly weather to join the Year 8s in hurtling down the Pudding Hill water slide — a highlight for many and a moment that captured their willingness to jump in (literally!) and be part of the fun.
Looking ahead, our current Year 12 leaders will continue their service into next year, mentoring our incoming Year 12 Peer Support cohort (present Year 11 students) in Term 1 as they step into the mantle of leadership within our kura. We are incredibly proud of them and grateful for their contribution to a memorable, positive camp experience for our Year 8 students.
