Canterbury Primary School's Duathlon

The duathlon comprised of a 2km run, followed by a 9km bike and closing off with a 1km run. With the year eights first then followed by the year sevens.
Stepahnie Lill said that the start was nerve-racking because everyone starts really fast around you, and it is hard to navigate around people. The first half of the two-kilometre run feels short, but once you get to transition, your legs feel glad to stop running and get on a bike.
The race is at Ruapuna Speedway, so the surface is smooth and the bike is fun and fast. The second run either feels horrible and long, or really short, depending on how you are feeling, and if you have managed to avoid jelly legs off the bike.
After your race, there were plenty of food vans around so you could grab an ice cream or a burger. The year fives and year sixes were next, so you could either hang around to watch them or head home.
It is a really fun event to go to because it’s not that competitive and it's lots of fun. If you want to be competitive, you still can be.
