Speech Finals 2025

Juniors
There is something hugely uplifting about attending the Year 7/8 speech competition. To see the youngest members of our school speak with such passion and creativity is always a fantastic moment, and this year was no exception. Students delivered their speeches to a hall full of people, not an easy feat, and they delivered confident and assured speeches. The topics were varied and tapped into student interests and passion, with some thought-provoking questions asked. Topics included overcoming fear, how we would cope with the loss of the internet, ADHD, poverty and more. Every speaker should be immensely proud of themselves.

Seniors
The senior speech competition was again small, but incredibly impressive, with four students competing this year. It is always a pleasure to sit and listen to our students and hear their perspectives on our world. All four speeches had crafted their work for a listening audience, and made reflective comments on our world, with thoughtful observations on what makes us human. Students considered their topics carefully and they covered the education system, fast fashion and consumerism, human laziness exacerbated by AI and burnout. One of the quotes of the night was, “Success means showing up consistently as yourself”.
Congratulations to all who competed; it was an enjoyable afternoon!
