Opuke Innovation Hub: A Strong Start to 2026
The Opuke Innovation Hub (OIH) has hit the ground running this year, beginning with the successful Mt. Hutt Open Day. We are incredibly grateful to be the recipients of the funds raised during this event. A massive thank you goes out to both Mt. Hutt and the Methven Lions for their hard work and dedication in making the day possible. The generosity shown by these organisations will have a significant impact as we move closer to the final completion of our new building.
Our student volunteers were front and center during the event. Nine OIH students along with Mr Roberts spent the day assisting with the loading of people and bikes onto the lifts. We were thrilled to receive glowing feedback regarding their Work ethic: Staying focused and helpful throughout the day, and their Manners: Engaging politely with the public.. They were fabulous ambassadors for our school.
Looking Ahead: Trades Programmes
It is an exciting year for the Hub as we now have both Year 11 and Year 12 OIH Trades programmes in full swing. These courses operate as a simulated workplace environment, specifically designed to equip students with the practical skills and professional attributes needed to thrive in their future careers.
We are eagerly anticipating the completion of our new space and students are excited about a productive year of hands-on learning!
We are enormously grateful for the incredible support and the many generous donations we have received to date. Every dollar counts and brings us one step closer to making the OIH Agri-Trades and Trades spaces fully operational. If you are keen to support this project and help us reach our target, please reach out to Amy at [email protected].
