RYDA Workshop
On Tuesday 24th March 2026, we will be extending our campus for Year 12s to include the conference venue at Methven Resort and our school driveway. This is so that our external provider, Road Safety Education Limited (RSE) can deliver their tried and true programme of practical strategies for young drivers and passengers, featuring workshops on speed, risk management, the psychology of driving, and passenger responsibilities and safety. All Year 12 students are expected to attend the course which is considered a normal part of our school day. Students are allowed to attend in non uniform. They must bring their own kai and water bottle (no fizzy drinks) because they will not be allowed to go up town or visit the school canteen during the day as breaks will be short and will not be aligned with school breaks.
Students who come to school by bus are not expected to attend Period 1 and can purchase food up town and wait in C.1. prior to 9:15AM before making their way to the Resort for roll call at 9:20AM. The normal timetable will resume in Period 5 and all students are expected to be punctual getting back to classes.
Our thanks goes out to RSE, Rotary and to all first responders and volunteers in our district who give their time and expertise to make this an educational and fun programme.
This year we will be launching Students Against Dangerous Driving at the event and want to remind Year 12s (and other students) that there is funding available for those who wish to go to the SADD Conference in Christchurch in the April school holidays.
