Leader's Letters
Our school is diverse. We come from different cultures, backgrounds, beliefs, talents, and life experiences.
Some were born here, some of us, somewhere else. Some of us are loud and confident, others are quiet and thoughtful. Some of us are still figuring out exactly who we are. That diversity is not a problem to fix, it's our greatest strength.
But diversity only remains a strength when we choose to respect it.
Bullying, whether it’s obvious or subtle, takes that strength and weakens it. It can be words, actions, or even silence. A comment about how someone looks. A joke about their culture or accent. Laughing when someone else is being mocked. Leaving someone out because they’re “different.” These moments might feel small to the person doing them, but they can add serious weight to the person carrying them.
Every unkind word adds another stone to someone’s backpack, and you may never see how heavy it becomes.
So as you move through your day, remember what Mrs Mcconnell said last week, “you don’t need to know what’s in someone else’s backpack. You just need to decide you won’t be the reason it gets heavier.” Choose respect. Choose inclusion. Choose kindness. Always.
Thank you,
