Countdown to Japan: Mount Hutt College's 2026 Tour!

Preview Japan Trip

Excitement is building at Mount Hutt College as our students prepare to embark on an unforgettable 18-day educational journey across Japan, departing on Saturday, 20th June. The adventure kicks off in Tokyo, where the group will experience the perfect blend of modern and traditional culture. Over four days, students will experience everything from the historic Sensoji Temple and Meiji Jingu Shrine to the vibrant energy of Harajuku, a live baseball game at the Tokyo Dome, and a full day of magic at Tokyo Disneyland.

The main purpose of this trip is our cultural exchange as the tour moves to the Hyōgo Prefecture to connect with our sister school - Yumegaoka Junior High School. Our students will spend four nights living with local host families, offering them a wonderful opportunity to experience Japanese hospitality, practice their language skills, and make new friends. Before leaving the region, the group will also explore Himeji Castle.

The final part of the trip will see the group visit the Hiroshima Peace Park and Museum, explore the beautiful island of Miyajima, and discover Kyoto and Osaka—including a boat ride on the Hozugawa River and the visiting the TeamLab digital art exhibition. The team will fly back into Christchurch on Tuesday, 7th July, undoubtedly filled with incredible stories and memories to share with the school community. Stay tuned!
