Mount Hutt College Welcomes New International Students for Term 3
Mount Hutt College has extended a warm welcome to a new group of international students arriving for Term 3, representing Japan, Thailand, Brazil, Germany, Italy, Spain, and China.
The students were officially welcomed to the school through a special Mihi Whakatau, a traditional Māori welcome that acknowledges new arrivals and helps them become part of the school community. Teachers, students, and staff gathered to celebrate the beginning of what promises to be an exciting and memorable experience for our international visitors.
This term’s cohort reflects the growing diversity of Mount Hutt College’s international programme. Some students will be with us for a short three-week cultural and educational experience, while others will stay for one or two terms. Several students have chosen to undertake a longer journey, studying at Mount Hutt College right through to the completion of Year 13.
International Director Olé Wallis said the school is delighted to welcome students from around the world and provide opportunities for cultural exchange both inside and outside the classroom.

At the same time, they have the opportunity to immerse themselves in New Zealand life, build lifelong friendships, and experience everything our rural Canterbury environment has to offer.”
As the students settle into classes, sports, outdoor education, and community activities, Mount Hutt College looks forward to helping them make the most of their time in Methven and creating memories that will last a lifetime.
