Year 13 Daffodil Day Fundraiser 2026
There are many moments where teachers feel incredibly proud of their students, and our Year 13 Daffodil Day fundraiser is absolutely one of those. They wanted to not only continue the tradition, but to raise money for an issue that touches all of us in some way. There were multiple fundraising events happening at the same time, with all money raised going to The Cancer Society. We selected our funds to go to the Mid-Canterbury area. The College was a sea of yellow, and despite the initial very wet weather, the day was a hit.
Fundraising avenues:
- Daffodil fence - run by the Service Committee
- Non-uniform day - theme of yellow
- Prefects selling raffle tickets for grocery hampers with items donated by Year 13s
- Bake sales, with items made by Year 13s, over four lunchtimes
- The ‘Pie a Year 13’ event
- Year 13s shaving their hair/chopping their hair
- Biking at Garage Gym from 3.30 pm to 9.30 pm on Daffodil Day
I would like to say a massive thank you to all our Year 13s who participated in Daffodil Day. We also have some special thank yous.
Garage Gym - thank you for loaning us your space, and stationary bikes, again! We couldn’t do this fundraiser without you.
DNA Hairdressing - thank you for coming to Methven and shaving/cutting the hair of our student volunteers. We are so appreciative of what you did!
Purple Dragon - thank you for surprising our students with free dumplings while they were in their last hours of biking. It was a fantastic pick me up!
To every single person who supported us in our efforts, whether it was through donations for the biking, buying a raffle, purchasing baked goods, pieing a Year 13, wearing non-uniform for the day, or bought one of the beautiful daffodils from the Service Committee, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Our fundraising goal was $2,000. Our total raised was over $4000.
