A group of international students from Mount Hutt College have made a meaningful contribution to the Methven community, volunteering their time to support the Methven Lions Club’s annual ANZAC poppy appeal.

Stationed outside local supermarkets, the students engaged with residents and visitors alike, helping to raise awareness and funds for the important cause. Their efforts were warmly received by the community, and together they raised over $200.

Methven Lions Club member Viv Barrett expressed his appreciation for the students’ initiative and generosity, presenting each of them with a certificate of recognition. He noted the importance of their contribution, saying, “This money will help to buy more poppies and cover other costs connected with ANZAC Day in the future.”

The students also extended their gratitude to local businesses FreshChoice Methven and Four Square Methven for allowing them to set up outside their stores. Their support played a key role in the success of the fundraising effort.

The initiative not only raised funds but also highlighted the strong sense of community spirit in Methven, with young people from around the world contributing to a cherished New Zealand tradition.
