Mount Hutt College Student Selected for New Zealand Cycling Team.

Preview Jack Gorrie

We are incredibly proud to share that Year 12 student Jack Gorrie has been selected to represent New Zealand in the Under-19 Road Cycling Team at the prestigious Tour de l’Abitibi in Canada this July (14th to 19th).

This six-day international race brings together some of the world’s best junior cyclists and has helped launch the careers of many professional riders.

Jack’s selection follows an outstanding season, including:

Winner — Tasman Classic Open Men’s Road Race
2nd — NZ Age Group Championships Open Men’s Road Race
3rd — NZ Age Group Championships Open Men’s Time Trial
10th — NZ U19 Elite Men’s Road Race

Alongside his studies at Mount Hutt College, Jack has shown incredible commitment, dedication, and determination both on and off the bike.

He would like to thank his family, teachers, classmates, Tinwald Cycling Club, and the wider Canterbury cycling community for their ongoing support.

Representing New Zealand is a huge honour, but also comes with significant costs. If you would like to support Jack’s journey to Canada and help him wear the silver fern on the international stage, donations can be made via his Givealittle page.

Congratulations Jack, the Mount Hutt College Community is behind you.
