Photo Competition 2026
Photography is something that all of us dabble in, whether that be a selfie with your friends, a photo of the sunset or sending a pic of your cat to the family group chat when she gets stuck in the pantry. People may think that something as simple as pressing a button is hardly artistic, but this year the Arts Committee has aimed to challenge that idea, and show that everyone who takes a photo is an artist.
Originally established last year, the photography competition brought to the school a new theme every fortnight for staff and students to send in a photo of. Whether that theme may be snowsports, winter, autumn, pink, food, whimsy, landscapes and much more, the competition was a roaring success. This year, submissions ranged from selfies to professional-camera equipment, that were all judged on their composition, context & colour.
Winners of each theme were posted on the school social media, and following the recent conclusion of the competition, winners were chosen based on consistency of entries, the most on theme entries, and the person who won the competition the most amount of times. The latter being the grant prize! A massive congratulations to Milla Leadley from 13SM for taking out our grand prize and to Gia Song and Miss Helem for taking out our runner up prizes.
It was awesome the amount of entries and being able to have a look into the lives of our school community through their lens! The competition was truly successful in demonstrating that we can all be artists, and that artistic inspiration can be found all around us. A massive thank you to all who entered, feel free to add ‘photographer’ to your CV’s now!
