Year 9 Social Studies classes with Mrs B have been learning how to pan for gold- not that we found any, unfortunately!
Our learning has been around; the early Chinese gold miners to New Zealand and the challenges they faced, and the consequent apology from the New Zealand government for the discriminatory use of the Poll Tax. It was a bit of fun on a beautiful day to tie up our unit on “The Impacts of Migration.”Do you know how much an ounce of gold is worth on today’s market?
It may surprise you and make you rethink going to work each day- can you hear the gold fields of the West Coast calling!
